How I got my Start in Performance Psychology
I started my journey in the world of training and competition at an early age. When I was a seven years old I started playing chess. For my age I was a good player and loved the game. My teacher offered to help my family find a teacher that would help me progress to an elite level. When my parents asked me if that was something I wanted to do, I told them no. Even at a young age I realized what I loved about sports and competition was the mindset and how we build ourselves up for the serious moments. I stuck with chess but as I got older I shifted to teaching and helping others learn and grow in the game. When I was in college I played with an amateur Esports team, and while I loved playing, my favorite moments were during our practice and reviews. These types of experiences led me to the world of Performance Psychology.
My Philosophy
In my work as a mental performance consultant I lean heavily on the belief that change must come from the athlete themselves. I believe everyone is capable of achieving the goals they set out for themselves,. My role is to help you reach the goals. When working towards change one of the most important parts is to understand the things that will inhibit and support you. Conversation and deep-dives into your experiences as an athlete are at the core of the work. The work we do together works in tandem with the work you put in as an athlete to help you reach the next level.
